Just as RipTen has decided to end 2011 with its End of the Year Awards, TorrentFreak has decided round up 2011 with the year’s top ten most pirated games.

Take a guess at what the top most pirated PC game of 2011 was. If you guessed Portal 2, Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, or Battlefield 3, you’re wrong.

It’s actually something from earlier in the year: Crysis 2. In fact, it was so heavily pirated on its release back in March that it’s still beat out Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, although I’d say that that’s probably due to the extra half a year of advantage that Crysis 2 has had.

Obviously, the most pirated game for the Wii was Super Mario Galaxy 2. Still, I’m surprised that Skyward Sword didn’t break the top five. Didn’t have enough time to, I guess.

Hitting #1 for the most pirated game for the 360 is its exclusive, Gears of War 3. Although Crysis 2 made a splash on PC, it wasn’t quite as popular on the 360 and didn’t make the top five. Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 rounded up #2 and #3 respectively, of course.

Here’s the breakdown for the top most pirated games of 2011 for the PC, the Wii, and the Xbox 360:

PC:

• Battlefield 3 – 3,510,000 downloads
• FIFA ’12 – 3,390,000 downloads
• Portal 2 – 3,240,000 downloads
