The Last Guardian Not Dead Yet, Progress Is Just Slow

Sony’s The Last Guardian had a bit of a rough year. Its creator left the studio, and then Gamestop announced that they’d be taking it off the pre-order list, causing some people to think it’d been canceled. You’re probably wondering what the progress on the game is, right? Never fear, it’s still in development.
1UP received an email from Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida at DICE that the latter “has been seeing it.” Fumito Ueda is continuing to work on the game, as part of its contract:
“His departure was an arrangement so he could focus on the creative side. But his work and his presence on that team never changed, so it was just more a contractual rearrangement, and that was taken [by many] as ‘he left.’”
“Ueda is still in the office, probably one of the people who works the longest hours. Progress is still taking place on The Last Guardian, but slow progress.”
So there you have it. It may take a while before we ever see it, but it hasn’t been killed off yet. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
