Just a little something fun to end the week…

GoNintendo came across the game Geek Mind on the website Dom2D, and it’s really quite simple: a random screen, part of a screen, or box art will appear from a game, and you type in which game it is. Simple!

Of course, there is a timer which ticks down, but as you get answers correct, ten seconds will be added, allowing you to progress further. If you get stuck, ..read the full article

During his time at Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego, Dave “GET SOME” Oshry got some time with Visceral Games’ Dead Space 2 and got some snazzy photos of their Dead Space 2 backpack.

Jed Seigle, CEO of Treehouse Brand Stores, is the man who owns the one and only Dead Space 2 backpack (he operates Visceral Store). However, the backup should be available sometime late this year or early next year, just around the time Dead Space 2 comes out, which ..read the full article

mariozombies

In this edition of RipTen’s Geeked-Out, we got the Super Mario Bros. transformed into zombies courtesy of mrksaari.

Now I’m a huge fan of Super Mario, so anything Mario related totally intrigues me. So when I ran into these pics online, I had to add them to our Geeked-Out posts. The pics are not only cool to check out, but incredibly creative. Props to mrksaari and please check out mrksaari’s flickr page for others pics of Super Mario zombies.

I have a yearly subscription to Game Informer, and Chris Stead, the Editor of the now booming magazine opened Issue #8 up with quite a well written and well said piece. When I read this it really blew me away because it literally sums up to the point how Microsoft and Sony are too late to the party. In fact, they were less invited then Naughty Bear. Stead writes;

“[Maybe we need a new generation of consoles sooner than we thought] ..read the full article

new battery concept

That might look like an ordinary AA battery to you, but this is a new concept design for a battery perfect for use in devices like TV remotes and wireless controllers; it can be recharged simply by vibration.

I’ll get the obvious out of the way quickly, to save time on it later: It could go in a dildo, yes. Well done, you’re the wittiest person alive.

Now, on to more serious matters. The battery is recharged by vibrating an attached battery-shaped ..read the full article

snes-bed-so-retro-comfy

Yes, you can now dream about your gaming glory days in a bed that looks like a Super Nintendo, but before you get your hopes up, this bed costs $20,000. Yeah, not a lot of us can afford that, but boy howdy don’t we wish. The best part? It wasn’t even made to look like a Super Nintendo. That’s right. Hollandia International made the coolest looking bed in the world by accident.

It was made to be compatible with the Apple ..read the full article

old-spice-gears-guy

I often wonder about things like how long it would take me to eat a stack of pancakes piled as high as the Washington monument, or how many cookies I could cram into my jacket pockets without drawing the suspicion of movie theater food police.

But alas, I’m just a fat kid that thinks about food a lot — skinny guys like Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski don’t have time to ponder that sort of thing. Instead, they reserve their precious inquisitional efforts ..read the full article

Crackdown2Orbs

They say there’s a defining moment in every video game. Assassins Creed had the gameplay, Mass Effect had the story, Goldeneye 64 had the nostalgia and Crackdown, well Crackdown had them damn orbs.

The main collectible in Crackdown was a bunch, actually around 500 of these floating glowing orbs, sometimes placed in the stupidest of places and of course there was an Xbox 360 achievement for collecting them all. Thankfully Unfortunately in Crackdown 2 they made a return, except this time ..read the full article

The Develop Conference is currently running, and we’ve already seen some pretty interesting stories float on out, one of which was that publishers didn’t want to touch PopCap’s multi-million copy selling title Bejeweled. Well another startling revelation has been shot from the Develop cannon, this time with a GameStop speaker at the event saying;

“We don’t like being in the used games business, but we have to be there. We would have to exit the games business otherwise.”

This is extremely ..read the full article

tv-ps3-controller-vr-device

One of the latest episodes of FOX’s “Lie to Me” features a pretty comical (and totally inaccurate) representation of video games. Imagine that.

The situation involved a soldier suffering from post dramatic stress syndrome (PDST) after returning from Iraq. In an effort to “get to the root of the problem” Dr. Lightman and his team make use of some new “virtual reality” equipment said to have been developed via a grant provided by the Department of Defense. ..read the full article

GirlGamers

The above picture is what females are likely to do after playing rage inducing games, because at Ghent University in Belgium, no longer do students learn, they just cause sexually based problems! Lotte Vermeulen, a student at the university surveyed 983 female gamers, and her results came back saying girls don’t like games that are too complicated, and when the going gets tough, they just quit and throw the towel in.

Her study also showed women don’t care about social interaction ..read the full article

E3210Awards

Well E3 is long gone into the morning sun, and now all that remains is the cliche post-show hand out of awards. They’re just in and some, if not all are pretty well deserved. So sit back, and have a read of the article and be sure to let us know what you think.
