Valve have released a handful of new screenshots from Portal 2, stemming from the GamesCom convention in Germany.

I bet you screenshot fans are pretty excited right now. I know I would be (if I liked screenshots). They’re pretty cool, and show off the beautiful graphics Valve have squeezed out of the Source engine. Let us know what you think in the comments, why don’t you?

halo-reach-trailer

Co-op is obviously a big deal in Halo: Reach, as it’s more squad- based than previous Halo titles. It’s not always easy to find a buddy that’s ready to play with you, so Bungie is adding Live matchmaking to the mix. You’ll be able to join up with complete strangers to play through the campaign. I’ve got mixed feelings about this. I mean, while it’s cool that there will always be someone to play with, how often would you really want ..read the full article

New Left 4 Dead Expansion Lets You Choose Who Will Live Or Die

The Sacrifice, new DLC for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, was revealed today by Valve. The DLC will be compatible with both games, so no matter which one you have, you’ll be able to play it.

The new DLC follows the survivors from the original campaign, and fills in the gap between the end of the first game and The Passing DLC for Left 4 Dead 2. The game is done from the perspective of the original game’s cast, ..read the full article

Halo Reach 540x235

In order to make Halo: Reach available to reviewers, Microsoft recently placed a review copy on their servers. Reviewers can download the game for $1,250. However, by placing the game on their servers, Microsoft also opened up the game to be hacked and downloaded. The download was supposed to require a special code, provided by Microsoft.   However, hackers were able to find their way around that, and download the game at will. Game spoilers have appeared all over the place, ..read the full article

If you haven’t seen the new Metroid: Other M TV Spot, then what are you waiting for? It seriously is one of the most awesome TV Spots for a game I’ve seen in a while. The trailer is more than a little reminiscent of Halo 3 and Gears of War Trailers, with a dismal, slow-motion backdrop overlaid with narration and sad music. Just because the trailer’s style isn’t new, however, doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing. If you weren’t excited for ..read the full article

Valve have announced that the release date for Portal 2 will be February 9th 2011. The game, as revealed at this year’s E3, will be coming to Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

In other brilliant news, the character of “Wheatley,” the little robot seen in some trailers for the game, will be voiced by Stephen Merchant, the British comedy actor, writer, and goggle-eyed freak. In case you’ve not heard of him, he wrote the British version of The Office, Extras, and ..read the full article

bungie-day-2010

If you missed it, today is Bungie day. The 7th day on the 7th month of the year, so what does this day mean to you? Personally Bungie day means a lot to me, as a Halo fanatic since Combat Evolved, I have put in more time on these games than some people wearing Tier 10 gear in World of Warcraft.

My true addiction to the Halo series started when I was just 15. Halo 2 had ..read the full article

MoonbaseAlpha

What kid didn’t want to be an astronaut at some point growing up? NASA sets out to bring that dream to life with Moonbase Alpha, on online multiplayer game the Space Agency has developed and released on the Steam network.

The game starts off with a fictional base on the south pole of the moon (you guessed it, named Moonbase Alpha). The base is damaged by an incoming meteorite in the opening cinematic, and it is your job to fix it. ..read the full article

FalloutOnline3

With Interplay working away like busy beavers on the much anticipated Fallout MMO, this little bundle of joy arrived in my inbox only a short time ago. Titled the “Armageddon Rag” I think the purpose is to give a brief insight into the world of Fallout Online. Tales of the life in the wastelands you could call them. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

A few days ago, Geoff Keighley took to his Twitter to tease the fact that inFamous 2 gameplay footage would be shown off on GameTrailersTV tonight, and while the episode has not yet aired, (hence the relatively-low quality) the footage is online already. After all, this is the internet, where nothing stays hidden for too long.

Puns aside, this new footage looks incredible. I never played the original game, as I was put off by the inFamous/Prototype controversies, but there’s no ..read the full article

I was recently lucky enough to get a major chunk of hands on time with Frictional Games latest entry into their ever expansive, and ever perfected library of survival based thriller titles. Having access to 1/3 of the whole game, I was impressed, overwhelmed and most of all legitimately frightened of the game. With games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill dishing out their scares in the form of “flash” attacks, screams and full frontal gore, Amnesia: The Dark Descent ..read the full article

portal 2 bots

Traditionally, a console version of a game’s multiplayer does not connect to a PC client. They operate on two different networks. Valve is looking to change that in Portal 2. As reported earlier, Portal 2 is being released for PC, Mac, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Valve developer Erik Johnson has released some more info on the game. When questioned on the cross-compatibility of the PS3 version with the PC version, he said it is “something the team is ..read the full article

portal 2 logo

Valve writer Erik Wolpaw has said today that he’s “had enough cake jokes,” adding that he “absolutely does not want to try and resurrect a three-year-old meme.”

“That seems like it would be kind of sad,” Wolpaw says. “If you thought you were sick of the memes, I was sick of it way ahead of you.”

No shit. The cake jokes were funny, delightful, and even delicious while I was playing Portal. When a guy in a sarcastic T-Shirt tells me that ..read the full article

The teaser trailer from the Sony E3 conference can be found below, as well as some extra in-game footage. It all looks brilliant, and I must say I even enjoy the music to the teaser trailer. I doubt Valve will mess this one up (they don’t exactly have a bad track record), and it’s all getting exciting now.

The trouble with Portal 2 stuff is that seeing too much footage ruins the puzzle aspect, since you’ll remember what to do ..read the full article

It has begun. The massive E3 Dam has begun to crack, and information is starting to trickle out eeeeeever so slowly. But don’t fret, we here at Ripten are prepared to brave the incoming storm of rumors and releases sure to follow. In fact, I’m wearing my life jacket right now. Better safe than sorry.

Imagine 1.5 million of these cakes

Valve announced today that since making Portal free to all Steam users to celebrate the Mac launch of the PC gaming platform, the game has been downloaded over 1.5 million times and counting.

Remember, the game is still free until 24 May, so everyone with a PC or a Mac should be downloading it, no excuses. Even if your machine can’t run it, this is a chance to get one of the finest games ever created for free. You’ll eventually ..read the full article

Bulletstorm-Billboard

With a slew of in-game actions creatively called out with names like “4th of July”, “Fertilizer”, and my personal favorite “Gang Bang”, could you possibly expect anything less from Bulletstorm’s debut trailer than a “Time to Break Out The Awesome” catch phrase? Not as catchy as “Bigger, better, and far more baddass” but it’ll have to do.

Make sure to let us know what you think of the trailer in the comment section below.

NVcollectors

As many of you may know, I am as big of a Fallout fanboy as you are sure to ever find.  I have played the original games too many times to count, applauded Bethesda’s efforts at re-inventing the franchise, and damn near made a mess of my pants when I heard that many of the original guys who worked on Fallout 1 & 2 (now at Obsidian Entertainment) would be taking the reigns on Fallout: New Vegas.

Yet, when it comes ..read the full article
