Avalanche have finally released the demo for Just Cause 2 today, which you can find on Steam (if you so wish). It’s 2 Gb on XP and 3 Gb on Vista/7 according to the system specs. This might be something to do with the fact that it’s bloody huge.
They boasted 35 square miles, and although I’m not sure of that, it is a huge space for a demo to take place. They’ve also done the sensible thing and limited you ..read the full article

The PC, Xbox, and PS3 demo for Just Cause 2 is coming on March 4th, and supposedly it gives you a full 35 Square miles of land to play around in. The area includes lots of towns, mountains, and other stuff, so it should be rather entertaining.
That said, the Demo for Fuel had a similar, if not bigger, play area to drive around. This of course meant that it was bloody ridiculous to get around. It took at least 20 ..read the full article
Over the past few months, we’ve been showing you how United Front Games is bringing the “Play, Create, Share” concept to kart racing with ModNation Racers. Today (via Gamespot), we announced that ModNation Racers will also be coming to the PSP as well – and at the same time as its big-brother PS3 edition (the exact street date is TBA).
I was down at San Diego Studios this week, where the team demoed Mod creation, Kart customization, full track creation, single ..read the full article
The Heavy Rain demo that likely kept Sony and Quantic Dream developers tossing and turning at night, as they tried to find the right mix of gameplay that best summed up what the game is about, has finally received a release date confirmation of February 11th on the EU PlayStation Store.
Mike Kebby, a member of the Sony PlayStation Store management team, confirmed the above information in a post on the Official EU PlayStation Blog, ..read the full article
In preparation for the January 19th launch of Capcom’s sci-fi action adventure title, Dark Void, on the PS3, 360, and PC, the company has made an early demo available to PC gamers. Capcom promises “stunning in-game physics” on the PC via “extensive use of NVIDIA® PhysX® and APEX technologies.” You can download the PC only demo exclusively at FilePlanet with a free membership.
On a somewhat related side note – Is it me, or does Dark Void’s alien fighting cargo pilot turned ..read the full article
Recently, there was a Bad Company 2 Beta on the PlayStation 3. If you missed it, or only have an Xbox or PC, you might be issuing a series of expletives. Well, that stream may now cease, as the official Battlefield blog has confirmed that there will be, at some point between now and March the second, a demo.
I suspect this demo will be both single and multiplayer, since the demo for Bad Company 1 had both of these features. ..read the full article
Today is the day that the update to Team Fortress 2 finally hit, and can be installed simply by having Steam open and TF2 installed. If you don’t own the game, you can play for free this weekend by downloading the game here.
Along with the update comes the news that the Soldier has won the war (albeit by a thread) and therefore has been awarded these Gunboots, which greatly reduce rocket-jump self damage.
Also announced today are these two maps, ..read the full article
Today, Valve have released the information about all but one of the weapon unlocks, as well as the names and descriptions of the achievements for both classes. There’s a lot of exciting stuff to read through, so I’ll provide you with your links and an abridged description so you can be on your way.
The final Demoman unlock is “The Scottish Resistance”, a Sticky Bomb Launcher that fires more bombs out that can be detonated in groups (the group you look ..read the full article
Valve have today announced the first unlock for the Soldier, seen above. This one’s called “The Direct Hit”, probably because it rewards those who score, well, a direct hit. It has a 70% smaller blast radius than the normal rocket launcher, as well as an 80% faster firing speed and with “25% more destructive force.” Also noted is the fact that The Direct Hit “guarantees mini-crits on airborne targets.”
In other news, the game will be having a free weekend ..read the full article
If you played the first Army of Two game, chances are that you have pretty mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the game’s multiplayer aspect is super-fun. But on the other hand, when you play solo, its flaws really shine through. When EA Montreal announced the sequel, set in Shanghai, I expected it to expand on the concepts introduced in the first game, and while I haven’t seen the game for myself yet, this Thursday, December 17th, I’ll be ..read the full article
It saddens me to update the hopeful twitter tease posted by Square Enix Senior PR Manager Sonia Im late last night. The post, which really seemed to point to the possible release of a demo sometime in the next few days, has been “clarified” by Sonia in her latest tweet.
“Think it’s best if I set expectations for my #FFXIII tweet. It is NOT a demo. But it’s cool regardless! So please don’t be too disappointed.”
Maybe it will be an awesome ..read the full article
A recent Twitter post by Square Enix Senior PR Manager Sonia Im contains an interesting photo (shown above) with the following statement:
“The memo inside hinted at something cool most of you can participate in a few days from now ”
A little Photoshop zooming reveals bits of phrases that amount to “you may be wishing”, “survive until 03.09.2010 we hope this”, and “you over for a bit ”

Thanks to what was no doubt some sly negotiating on the part of Sony, PlayStation 3 owners can feel the searing flames of Hell against their flesh two weeks earlier than Xbox 360 faithful.
Sony will be receiving the Dante’s Inferno demo on their PlayStation Network December 10th, leaving 360 owners on the hook until December 24th. On the bright side, this means that the Gates of Hell can now be considered an early Christmas present. I wonder which one of ..read the full article
The Xbox Live and PlayStation Network demo of Sega’s Bayonetta will be coming to the US and Europe on December third, Sega announced today. They’re particularly proud of this one, since highly respected publications Edge (from the UK) and Famitsu (from Japan) have both awarded the game perfect scores. Bayonetta is the 11th game to receive a 10/10 from Edge, and the 12th to get a 40/40 from Famitsu.
The game has been released in Japan already, but the US ..read the full article
A recent Neogaf post and subsequent video published by the gaming world’s mash-up of Carson Daly and 50 Cent (aka: The HipHopGamer), gave reason to believe that there would be a Splinter Cell: Conviction demo included with purchases of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II for the Xbox 360, however hot on the heels of an anonymous tipster, /gamer recently posted a few voucher images they believe debunk the demo rumor.
The wording on the voucher itself, shown in the images below, ..read the full article
EA, and developer Visceral Studios, issued a press release today announcing that a demo of Dante’s Inferno (a third-person action-adventure game set in the fiery chasm of Hell) will be available this December.
No specific date was given, but they do have a nice developer documentary series of videos highlighting the circles of hell within the game to hold you over. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t seen them. Watch the video below and access the other segments through the ..read the full article
Oh how high society frowns upon you! If you happen to be an Xbox LIVE Silver Member that enjoys decapitating zombies when you aren’t drowning kittens in your bathtub, you know that the Left 4 Dead 2 demo wasn’t available to you last week. Well, put the kitten down and power up your 360. Valve’s zombie fest sequel is waiting and your clogged tub drain will thank you.
