We just heard about Kingdom of Amalur‘s online pass content, and have been hearing about online passes for years now. People are pretty not-down with online passes, but the industry has a bone to pick with used games and Microsoft may have a strategy which, if successful, will reduce the used game industry to nothing but, well, bones. According to Kotaku, the next generation Xbox might be implementing a system which prevents used games from being played. Now what this ..read the full article

As it turns out, Kingdoms of Amalur does indeed still have content that new players of the game will need an EA Online Pass for, but the circumstances are unlike they were assumed to be. Initially it was assumed the that the House of Valor content was on the disk and had to be unlocked with said Online Pass, but it appears that is not the case. EA and developer 38 Studios clarify in the following statements:

Modern Flight Simulators come in a variety of forms, from Take On Helicopters to the still quite broken IL-2 Cliffs Of Dover, but none have delivered the same level of acute reality as the Digital Combat Simulator series. Crafted by developers Eagle Dynamics, the DCS series so far has delivered near-perfect recreations of the Black Shark (a single pilot variant of the Russian Kamov-50, a ground-attack chopper) and the A-10C Warthog (the venerable and frightening depleted-uranium-firing U.S. ground-pounder still in active service). Now, ..read the full article

It’s been a little over a month since the official launch of BioWare’s much anticipated MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, which means the time is right for a retrospective look at how the game has performed following its release.

I currently play a level 50 Smuggler on the Republic side of the fence, with a level 43 Consular slowly climbing towards 50 as well. Sadly, when it comes to the Empire faction, I haven’t had the time to get any ..read the full article

Aliens: Colonial Marines has been in development a long time.  Like, since 2008 long.  It resurfaced at last year’s E3, where we were told that it would be coming this Spring.  Today, Sega revealed that they’re pushing the game back to this fall. Sega and Gearbox sent an email about their choice to push it back:

“Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don’t necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, ..read the full article

PS3 Trade

Next up on our MLB 12 The Show developer blog tour is our Franchise mode and the improvements coming to players this year. One of our goals going into this development cycle was to enhance the trade logic for CPU teams to better mimic their real-life counterparts. In order to do so, we had to examine the current system and identify the faults to then build and improve upon it. This year we are considering more factors ..read the full article

This time around Street Fighter x Tekken is getting a rather healthy cache of Sony exclusives including Mega Man… Okay now that that’s sunk in, his character is based on the US version Mega Man 1 ..read the full article

HSG Kratos 03

Earlier today we learned that the PS3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken will include five exclusive characters: Mega Man, Pac-Man, Cole McGrath and Japanese PlayStation mascots Toro and Kuro.

It got me thinking about cameos and guest appearances in games – an increasingly frequent occurrence, it seems, particularly in beat ‘em ups. And it’s not just other game characters popping up in other pixels’ playgrounds: the NBA Jam series has a long tradition of including Presidential ..read the full article
